life and how to live it

who is this man? if you have ever heard the name then u think “crazy” , “mysterious” maybe even “bullshit”. for me though, this individual is so extremely fascinating because of what he symbolises. nothingness… which is pretty much where he has gone. i mean yah..some sources will say that he “died of leukemia” or whatnot, but there really was not a body at his funeral. i have just started researching his incredible realizations and findings, but if you become really interested you can take out his books from the library or purchase the series. Castaneda used to be a professor and while on his search to find medicinal and recreational plants, he came across a little Mexican weirdo sorcerer dude who in the end, taught him everything there is to know about life, how to live it well, and what really is the purpose of us and the world around us. It describes in detail how to acquire and posses true knowledge. The most important lesson however, is that we will never know EVERYTHING about the world and what we are, so although it is hard to accept, u….HAVE TO….. His books are extreme and have the potential to mess with your head if you are not yet ready to learn such things. Some sceptics think the books are works of fiction, while others believe that they are some of the most informative and influential pieces of non-fictional literature ever written. so here ill post the a few websites where you can find more info about him , and several short excerpts from a couple of his books.

The Teachings of don Juan

Anything is one of a million paths. Therefore you must always keep in mind that a path is only a path; if you feel you should not follow it, you must not stay with it under any conditions. To have such clarity you must lead a disciplined life. Only then will you know that any path is only a path and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you to do. But your decision to keep on the path or to leave it must be free of fear or ambition. I warn you. Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary.
This question is one that only a very old man asks. Does this path have a heart? All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. They are paths going through the bush, or into the bush. In my own life I could say I have traversed long long paths, but I am not anywhere. Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t, it is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn’t. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you.

A Separate Reality

Don’t let the idea of being detached from everything you know give you the chills. The thing which should give you the chills is not to have anything to look forward to but a lifetime of doing that which you have always done. Think of the man who plants corn year after year until he’s too old and tired to get up, so he lies around like an old dog. His thoughts and feelings, the best of him, ramble aimlessly to the only things he has ever done, to plant corn. For me that is the most frightening waste there is.
We are men and our lot is to learn and to be hurled into inconceivable new worlds. Seeing is for impeccable men. Temper your spirit now, become a warrior, learn to see , and then you’ll know that there is no end to the new worlds for our vision.
When you see there are no longer familiar features in the world. Everything is new. Everything has never happened before. The world is incredible! Everything you gaze at becomes nothing!
Things don’t disappear they don’t vanish, they simply became nothing and yet they are still there. Seeing makes one realize the unimportance of everything.

or…just friggin google it

Wow. Anything that has to do with wise teaching based on voodoo and “medicinal plants” usually gets a lot of criticism. This, though, might be onto something.

yeah this is actaully pretty crazy stuff

Things don’t disappear they don’t vanish, they simply became nothing and yet they are still there. Seeing makes one realize the unimportance of everything.

😦 i dont think im ready to learn all this “nothingness”, it will definatly mess with my head.

but i agree 100% about the two paths theory.

i need to get my hands on some of these medicinal plants.

Ok basically, iunno who this weirdo is and I don’t want to hate on him but I personally don’t believe and will never believe in ne vodoo shit , it’s creepy my mom believes in sme of this shit not like wut this guy says but similar, like ppl being able to ruin the lives of the ones they hate using spells n crap. Talking bout our lives n the purpose and all that I thought I would share my perspective of life. It may seem strange or unexpected from Mr.Teengle but I strongly believe in the biblical stories of creation and the after life. I am a 100 percent positive there is a world after this materialistic world ,there is a spiritual world that you go to when you die and it may sound stupid but there you PAY for all that you have done in ur lives in this world. So what are we doing here? our lives are simply tests to see what paths we choose and what we do with it, waste it or use it? become a murderer or a peace keeper and so on. What makes us humans significant is our ability to think n decide paths on our own; our will power. And depending on how we use this ability we will get paid back in the eternal life after this life. The whole concept of judgment day and such, at the end of the world. And compared to lives we are going to live after whether it be heaven or hell or w.e, this short life of maximum 100 years in this world will seem like seconds. So the life we think of as so long is really only seconds. And Basically all this life is , is a TEST. And our actions do have consequences…

So, lemme get this straight man. You believe that you WILL pay for the things you do down here? In that case, you need to seriously re-think your lifestyle. 🙂

haha omg ali this is not VOODOO its called that by some people, but the idea is not like..USING MAGIC ON PPL, or anything so retarted.
the idea is to discover YOURSELF (this has nothing to do with other people) in a spiritual way and knowing exactly what you want out of yourself and out of life. and the way u describe it is “creepy” and such, u really just seem fukin scared to know about it lol

the thing about this is…unlike religion, it doesn’t force concepts on ppl and say THIS IS THE WAY, eVERYONE SHOULD BELIEVE, it really just gives ppl a way to understand their true potential. there’s alot more to it that is said in like the 10 books which i clearly can not sum up in a single paragraph

  7. 7 teengle October 16, 2007 at 6:23 pm

No gosh look we have to pay for our actions, and because of that i kno im going to hell and ive already given up coz ive been evil on ma life so im pretty sure its too late to rethink ma life style god has already closed ma file with a big “SHALL BURN IN HELL” on it.

Dude, I’m atheist, and I STILL don’t think you should give up. If you ask me: it’s simple. Be nice. Never too late to be nice 🙂

  9. 9 sosiska October 16, 2007 at 8:21 pm

yes it is, ali is like 17 years too late to be nice,

    wthh alii!!
weve only had to make our own dicisions for like a couple years.. this is when we actually think about stuff that we are doing….. what could u have possible done so that the next 70 years of urlife u couldnt possibly redeam?

I’ve read almost all of Castaneda’s work. For me it’s fascinating to read about Don Juan Matus; I think every quote Don Juan’s, Castaneda has put on his books, kinda gives chills on my spine (in the good sense). I’d definitely recommend his work and advise to keep an open mind…about the book, and life in general.

    Greetings everyone…

I have read most of castanedas books and beleive they can be very useful informing us of the other possibilities of reality..

a few words though if you are interested..?..? In order to ‘see’ other worlds or energy we must free ourselves from the perceptual prison we live in. The use of medicinal or power plants what ever you want to call them is not neccesary.. That is the biggest misheld belief about all this kind of work. For those who really want to move their energy and have control and fluidity, these things only act as an incumberance. It ammounts to putting your power in something outside yourself. As I said before and if you read all of castanedas books you will see he says the same, you can do anything at all through correct use of your own energy. The plants, mess with your head, wrerck your body and make you feel shitty the next day.

So consider the alternative which is hard work, but the results are yours forever to keep. Do a google search for ‘recapitulation’ or ‘shamanic recapitulation’ you will find books websites etc. this practice was described by castaneda though much older, it is the cornerstone in many shamanic paths, though all traditions will have a fundamental way of first healing yourself and being reborn into the world. In order to move your energy see other worlds etc. you must first understand your own energy and also release it from the ties to the past. All the emotional crap we have picked up drains us and prevents fluid movement. If you are really intersted in healing yourself or seeing other worlds then this is the first step. If you go seeking plants and stuff bear in mind you are just using drugs and not reeally moving outside the box we live in.

    good stuff… take care all

ps: that picture at the top is not carlos castaneda, it is another guy by the same name, carlos was not a proffesor rather a student of anthropology… He also looks very different, but really, what the hell does it matter?
